Lyne Pringle has over 30 years of experience working as a dance/theatre artist in New Zealand , Australia and New York . She is deeply committed to the development of the performing arts in New Zealand. In 1984 she was awarded a Queen Elizabeth II Arts Council grant which enabled her to travel to New York , where she lived until 1987.
During that time she presented a solo work Taranaki)Mountain as well as studying dance with Erick Hawkins, Alexander Technique, Butoh with Min Tanaka, and Capoiera with Jelon de Silva. In 1987 she travelled to India and studied classical Indian Dance. In 1999 she again travelled to New York on a Creative NZ study grant

She has choreographed and produced numerous dance works including Kilt and 1129 Greenfinch Wings and has performed with a number of leading New Zealand choreographers.

She was the head of movement at Toi Whakaari / The New Zealand Drama School for several years; highlights of that time include large scale and experimental productions of The Tempest and The Threepenny Opera.

She has worked in the role of choreographer and movement advisor with many leading New Zealand theatre directors including; Colin McColl, Murray Lynch, Miranda Harcourt, Theatre at Large and Susan Wilson. During 2000 she was involved in the International Festival of the Arts as movement advisor for the Circa production of Rutherford . Later that year she choreographed for the New Zealand Opera production of Aida, using a mixture of dancers and aerialists.

In 2001 she directed Michael Parmenter in his solo performance Nightingale Fever and co-choreographed two productions for the highly innovative dance/physical theatre group Strident. She also directed a children's version of Twelve Night and choreographed Colin McColl's production of The Blue Room . Later in 2001 she directed a Red Mole script, Charity Cartwright's Family Disunion for the Film and Theatre Department at Victoria University .

In 2002 she performed in Black Body as part of the STAB season at Bats Theatre, choreographed for Wellington Fringe show The Garden of Eden and was assistant director for the International Festival of the Arts production of Underwater Melon Man.

Recent work includes: Inventory of a Self a solo performance; Anima a film collaboration with Alison East; Roll Baby Roll and Roll Again Baby - improvisational performance events with the Mandlebrot Set; a national tour with Parmenter's Commotion company; Dance of the Origins with artist Nigel Brown and Take me Down to the Dance Floor.

In 2003 she formed Bipeds Productions with Kilda Northcott – an umbrella organization to support their work. Their highly acclaimed work Fishnet toured throughout New Zealand from 2005 - 08; it received full houses and standing ovations as well as numerous awards . A new work Lily received critical acclaim when it premiered at the beginning of 2009; it will tour nationally in 2010/2011. Lyne is also finishing a short film Trophy.

In recent years there has also been a focus on writing and text whilst completing a Graduate Diploma in the Film and Theatre Department at Victoria University . She is a reviewer for Theatreview and National Radio

She lives in Newtown , Wellington with visual artist Paul Forrest and has a snowboarding son Fin.
